Budget Amendments

We are struggling with a "difference of opinions". How many other local governments undertake a public consultation process with the adoption of a financial plan amendment? And, if you do, what format do you use? We have various public meetings and input options during the drafting and adoption of the original financial plan; however, in the past have not undertaken this prior to adopting an amendment. Any input is appreciated.

Thank you,

  • We do not undertake a formal public consultation process for an amendment, however we do provide detailed information about what is being amended in the staff report that accompanies the amendment bylaw, in public Council Meeting

  • We do not undertake a public process as extensive as our main financial plan. It goes to a public meeting with detailed info - like Susan does. All of our amendments have already been through Council and they made a motion to amend the financial plan for whatever it was along with a funding source. The amendment is then a compilation of all of those motions.
